Family afternoon -- but cows are out!

The college kids called and said they were coming home for the afternoon! Whoop whoop! Then the phone rang again and said we had cattle out on the country road and they were on the move.....so once the family was all together, we headed out to gather up the cattle and put them back in the pasture and find the hole in the fence.
It wasn't too hard to find the hole in the fence. Now, to fix it. In the meantime, we had our picnic that we had planned to eat beside the farm pond while fishing. It was nice sitting on top of a hill, watching that the cows didn't head back out the hole, and enjoying a picnic in the late summer sunshine.
Roo the Cowdog was happy to see the college kids! She insisted on playing with each of them!
The oldest kid is now 21 and is in her last year at college (hopefully) and she is helping her "little" high school brother with the fence.
...and the cow looks on. If there is a weakness in this fence, she will find it!
Finally we finished the fence, counted the cows and headed to another nearby pasture with our favorite fishing pond. Notice how low the water is...it is over 6 feet lower than normal in this drought!
The evening ended with a beautiful sunset!

  1. If your daughter is 21, you must surely be hoping that she graduates soon. Cost of education is not getting any cheaper, its' running ahead of inflation I'd reckon.

    1. She actually had LOTS of scholarships! Such an awesome kid...but I am kind of excited for her to graduate. Just because I'm anxious to see what is in store for her in the future! She is such a great young lady that I know she'll do well no matter what. This is her senior year at Kansas State University and she has started job interviews! It will be 2 more years before our twins start college and we'll have four in college at the same time! Omigosh!!
