Hello, America! Let me thank you for your time!

Happy Labor Day, America! This is a day we set aside time to be with our families to relax, enjoy picnics, celebrate the end of summer and generally just goof off instead of work. According to the Department of Labor website, the first Labor Day was celebrated September 5, 1882 in New York City. The day-off work holiday "constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."

Well, then I have some people I'd like to thank today for their contribution to the good of our country and the success of the American way! But first, this song comes to mind...40 Hour Week, by Alabama!

I know the song is a bit old (I actually remember when it came out, though)...but it still has some great things to say! I've heard people say #ThankAFarmer, but I also want to #ThankANurse, #ThankADoctor, #ThankATeacher, #ThankABarista, #ThankALinesman, #ThankATechieNerd (who created the iPad!), #ThankAGlassmaker, #ThankADishwasherManufacturer, #ThankACarSalesman.....I think you get the idea!

There are a lot of people who make our world go around and we don't even notice them, and even less do we remember to thank them. Help me make a list....Tell me who you'd like to thank! Put it in the comments and I'll draw a random winner for $20 in Beef Bucks from the people who comment on this post! So, put each Thank You in a separate comment...and let's #ThankANewspaperEditor, #ThankAJanitor, #ThankALandscapeArchitect, #ThankALawnMowerRepairman.....

    1. As I typed #ThankAVet, I realized it does have two very important meanings. Thanks for clarifying them!

  4. I thank all of the caregivers out there, whether they are caring for a loved one or they are doing it as a job in a hospital or care facility. It is often a thankless job, especially for some of my friends who care for their loved ones with ALS with little or no help.

  5. First of all I thank my mom for giving me life, labor day, got it? Then I thank all the teachers I had in 12 years of school. I thank the doctors that have saved my life over and over, especially this last time when I had to have a pace maker. I thank our military, I too was a military wife, I thank all the wives for waiting for their soldiers to come home to them. I thank the men who have to be out in the heat working all day everyday, be them farmers, road workers, mowers, whatever their jobs are that keep them outside. Thank you people for doing whatever it is you do.
