Okay, so I admit, I'm a bit of a goofball! But I think these "Redneck Wine Glasses" are pretty funny! I do like wine...and I do have real wine glasses, but I love these redneck wine glasses -- a mason jar (pint size) glued to the top of a glass candlestick! And they are selling for $15 each in various gift shops across the country! SERIOUSLY?!?
So I chose to make a few for my family for Christmas presents. For $1 per candlestick at the Dollar Store, and a few dollars for the extra strength glue, I stuck some nice jars I already had together and had cute gifts. I couldn't stop there, though. So I tied a bit of raffia on the glass, and bought some unique wines to go with each glass.
The one pictured above is for my sister--I thought she would enjoy the craziness of this name: "Freakshow" and the picture on the label is of a vintage carnival or side show!
This one was for my aunt Mary, who runs a ranch with her husband in central-kind of western-Kansas (it is west of me, but I've been informed it isn't real west--wherever that line is!). This wine is called "The Show" and has a saddle bronc rider!
For my mom, I chose a blush wine called "Toad Hollow" mostly because of the illustration on it. It reminds me of the book "Wind in the Willows." Love it!
And to cap off the "Redneck" theme, I put the wine bottles in a lovely decorative sleeve...a boot sock...and tied it with raffia! If Mom and my sister get together, they'll have a pair of socks they can share, but Aunt Mary is stuck with only one sock. Maybe she'll have a match to it, as I have lost the match years ago and it has stayed in my "single sock bucket" for a long time!
I love making gifts--even silly ones like this! It takes time to think of the gift, and put it all together. I hope that my family can feel the love and appreciation I have for them as they giggle at their new "Redneck Wine Glasses" and special wines chosen just for them!
Love my Redneck Wine glass! But I love the idea of giving fun wine with it and the raffia!
ReplyDeleteThe wine was the hard part...finding great and funky named wines. Also, the boot socks for wine sleeves. I had one decent unmatched sock, but had to buy a pair for the other two bottles!
DeleteSo cute, I like that you used a sock to "wrap" them. Have you checked out the new winery in Paxico, they have some cute western labeled/themed wines. I bought Purple Grin for K-State loving rancher friends of mine.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! A trip to Paxico is JUST what I need, I think!
DeleteWe used these as the wine glasses for the head table at our wedding. I love your gift wrapping!

Great idea for the wedding table! Since I am already married, and have no weddings in my kids' future...think I'll just enjoy them with my friends. :)
DeleteI'm not a wine drinker, but love this idea!! Very creative!
