Here's my #foodthanks!

From the toothpaste you brush your teeth with, to the tires on your car, beef byproducts are a big part of every American's day! I am thankful for cattle ranchers who work hard 365 days a year, 7 days a week, and sometimes 10-12 hours a day. I know about these hours, because I'm a cattle rancher.
I'm not complaining about the hours. Yes, they may be long some days, and yes, the weather may not be the best, but the cattle need me and I have devoted my life to taking care of them. I actually love cows! That is not that silly of a statement! They do have personalities and they show them in the funniest ways. Recently, while videotaping some information for a YouTube video on Advocating, I lay in the grass near my cows and let them sneak up to me. They were very curious and stopped grazing to sneak over to me and find out what I was up to!

I enjoyed the sun and hanging out with my buddies, the cows. I stayed still, lying in the grass and letting them sniff me and lick my jacket. It made a rustling sound that scared them as they licked it. They would jump back for a minute or two and then slowly make their way back, stretching out their neck and eventually their tongue for a taste.

So, we're planning our thanksgiving meal this week. We'll serve Certified Angus Beef prime rib and give thanks for all the ranchers who raise CAB. We will also enjoy the traditional side dishes and a bit of turkey, as well. Thank you, farmers and ranchers for growing a safe, nutritious and delicious food supply to feed the world--and my family! And after enjoying a big meal, playing a hand or two of cards, and watching a football game, we'll head home before dark--because the cows need fed every day, no matter the holiday.
